About this project

Who is behind EspecialMundial, what it covers and why it was built.

What EspecialMundial is

EspecialMundial is an independent, bilingual guide to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada: the first tournament played by 48 teams. It brings together the schedule and results of all 104 matches, the standings of the 12 groups, the knockout bracket, profiles of the 48 teams and every squad player, the 16 venues, the tournament statistics and the history of every edition since 1930.

The whole site exists in Spanish and English, with the Spanish version at the root and the English one under /en. It is not an official FIFA site and is not affiliated with FIFA.

Who makes it

EspecialMundial is a project by Color Vivo Internet, S.L.U., a Spanish web development and internet services company active since 1995, with staff in Madrid and Herencia (Ciudad Real, Spain). Editorial work, development and data checking are all done in-house.

Match reports and long-form articles are written by the project's editorial team. Nothing is published without checking the result, the scorers and the cards against the official match data.

How it is funded

The site is funded by advertising and by the group's own infrastructure. There is no subscription, no paywall, and no sponsored content disguised as editorial. The commercial links in the footer are marked as such.

How it is built

The site is static: it is rebuilt in full after every match and served as plain HTML from a content delivery network. That makes it fast and cheap to maintain, and guarantees that what you see is exactly what was generated, with no computation in the browser.

  • No first-party tracking cookies and no user accounts.
  • Images served as AVIF and WebP, with credit and licence on every photo.
  • Kickoff times shown in mainland Spanish time, calculated from each venue's official local time.

Where the data comes from

Every figure on the site has an identified source and an update policy. They are set out in Methodology and sources, along with what we do when two sources disagree.

Corrections and contact

If you spot a wrong figure, we want to know: it gets corrected and republished on the next rebuild, which happens several times a day.
