World Cup 1950

The 1950 World Cup was held in Brazil and ended with Uruguay's unexpected triumph, its second world title. In the decisive final-round match, Uruguay beat Brazil 2–1 before nearly 200,000 spectators at the Maracanã, an event known as the Maracanazo. It was the only World Cup not decided by a single-match final, resolved instead in a final round-robin group, in 1950.
