A Vinicius Junior brace leads Brazil's 0-3 win over Scotland in Miami
Vinicius Junior scored twice and Matheus Cunha added a third to hand Brazil top spot in Group C.
Brazil cruised to a 0-3 win over Scotland at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the Dolphins' coliseum holding 64,478 spectators, in a third-round Group C clash at the 2026 World Cup. The Selecao closed the group stage in clinical form and took top spot in the group.
The star of the match had a familiar name. In the 7th minute, Vinicius Junior opened the scoring from a Rayan pass, and in first-half stoppage time, in the 45+3, the winger completed his brace after an assist from Bruno Guimaraes to make it 0-2 at the break. The Brazilian was the unanimous choice as man of the match.
The clincher came in the 60th, when Matheus Cunha finished off a pass from Bruno Guimaraes again to make it 0-3 and put the game to bed. Steve Clarke's Scotland had no answer to the attacking storm of Carlo Ancelotti's side, who comfortably managed their lead down the stretch.
The match had its edge in the duels, as the bookings showed: Brazil's Danilo (62') and Fabinho (82') were cautioned, while Scotland's Ryan Christie (89') saw yellow. The Selecao's superiority, though, was never in doubt in Miami.
With this win, Brazil close Group C at the summit, ahead of Morocco on goal difference, and head into the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup as one of the major favourites. Scotland, by contrast, finish third on three points and must await the comparison between the best third-placed sides to keep their qualification dream alive.
