Colombia and Portugal played out a goalless draw (0-0) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, one of the major venues for the 2026 World Cup holding 64,478 spectators and home of the Miami Dolphins, to close the third round of Group K. The split came at this 48-team World Cup staged by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The match was a tactical duel between two teams that arrived with qualification all but secured and who avoided taking needless risks. Clear chances were scarce and the tempo was controlled, with both sides measuring every move forward.
The standout was Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa, named player of the match for his assurance between the posts, neutralising the efforts of a Colombia that pushed harder for the goal. At the other end, Camilo Vargas was also untroubled in the Colombian goal.
Néstor Lorenzo set Colombia up in a 4-3-3, while Roberto Martínez countered with a Portuguese 4-2-3-1. The clean, low-foul game produced just one booking, for Colombia's Puerta (86').
The draw leaves Colombia top of Group K on seven points and Portugal second on five, both through to the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. The point sealed Colombian top spot and left the Portuguese side well placed ahead of the knockout tie.
